Durainallur Village, Tiruvallur District: 23 October 2026
A road safety awareness programme under the Safe Mile India initiative was conducted on 23 October 2026 at Amazon Seller Services Private Limited, IndoSpace Industrial Park, Durainallur Village, Tiruvallur District, Tamil Nadu, with the participation of more than 800 people, including truck drivers, cab drivers and company employees.
The programme was organised in association with Safe India, Action for Integrated Development (AID), Green Life, Amazon India and the Indian Community Welfare Organisation (ICWO), with a focus on promoting responsible driving practices and preventing road accidents.

The awareness activities highlighted the importance of wearing helmets, following traffic rules, avoiding driving under the influence of alcohol and taking responsibility for the safety of all road users. The programme was conducted in three phases, as recommended by Mr. Vasudeva Rao, Project Director, Safe India, Green Life and AID.
Adding an engaging and interactive element to the initiative, the Chennai Kalappai Cultural Team presented cultural performances conveying important road safety messages. The performances and awareness interactions helped communicate the importance of safe driving practices to employees and professional drivers working in the logistics sector.
As part of the practical safety intervention, reflective stickers in red, white and yellow were affixed to more than 100 heavy vehicles, cars and vans to improve their visibility, particularly during night-time travel and in low-light conditions.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Mr. Bennis, Amazon Company Coordinator. The arrangements and field-level coordination were led by Mr. A. J. Hariharan, Secretary of ICWO, and Mr. Senthil Kumar, District Resource Manager, with the support of supervisors Mr. Ezhumalai and Mr. Singaram and the ICWO field team.
The initiative demonstrated the importance of combining public awareness, cultural communication and practical safety measures to promote safer roads. Through the Safe Mile India pilot programme, the participating organisations sought to encourage truck drivers, cab drivers and employees to adopt responsible driving habits and contribute to reducing road accidents.
The programme concluded with a strong message that road safety is a shared responsibility and that every precaution taken on the road can help protect lives.
