National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Madras School of Social Work (MSSW) organized 77th Independence Day Celebration at OAT.

The Programme began with Tamil thai Vaazhthu. Ms. Sri Sai Saktchi, NSS Volunteer, welcomed the gathering. The Prestigious Indian Flag was hoisted by the Chief Guest Dr. P. Mohana, Department of Human Resource Management, MSSW which was followed by Flag song.

The esteemed Chief Guest Dr. P. Mohana, Department of Human Resource Management, MSSW addressed the gathering on this special occasion. She started her speech by wishing a very Happy 77th Independence Day and then spoke about the freedom struggle which has led to the Independence.

She also said that our dreams should be with purpose and dedication. She quoted ‘Change Starts from You’ and said things will only change when you start changing which motivated all the NSS Volunteers to dream big and become a Catalyst for Change. Mr.S.Xavier Vivek Jerry, Asst. Professor & NSS Program Officer felicitated Dr. P. Mohana, Department of Human Resource Management,MSSW. On the Independence Day Celebration, a poetry competition was conducted in Tamil and English. Dr. P. Mohana, Department of Human Resource Management, MSSW presented the certificates and prizes to the winners of the Poetry Competition.

After the Prize Distribution, programmes like Human Pyramid , Dance and Model Gram Sabha were performed by the NSS Volunteers. Ms.Gandhi Mathi KM, NSS Volunteer, gave a speech about the Independence we enjoy today and the struggle behind it. A Model Gram Sabha was performed to show the need and importance of it and to also understand the equal distribution of power among people. Ms.Isha Sagaram, NSS Volunteer proposed the Vote of Thanks.

The Programme ended with the National Anthem. A Group photo was taken and refreshments were served. In memory of the 77th Independence day celebration, NSS unit of MSSW planted a rose sapling in the campus. NSS Volunteers took part actively in the 77th Independence Day Celebration and expressed their gratitude and patriotism for their country.
