Chennai: 10/01/2026:
The Indian Community Welfare Organisation (ICWO) distributed 50 pairs of sports shoes and T- shirts to under privileged differently-abled women athletes with support from CAUSE India (Changing Attitudes Using Social Energy) under its “Right to Play” initiative, with sponsorship from SG Sports (Sanspareils Greenlands).
The sports shoes, facilitated through CAUSE India and distributed by ICWO, were provided to athletes at the Better World Shelter, run by the Dorcas Research Center NGO.
The beneficiaries included two athletes who participated in the World Para Powerlifting Championship 2025 held in Cairo, Egypt, and have qualified for the Paralympics* at *Santiago, Chile,along with athletes involved in wheelchair racing, para athletics, wheelchair basketball, wheelchair tennis, para table tennis , and members of the Tamil Nadu Blind Women’s Cricket Team,all representing Tamil Nadu at state, national, and international levels.
The initiative aimed to support training needs and promote inclusive sports development* for persons with disabilities. CAUSE India works in alignment with the Un Sustainable Development Goals,while SG Sports, a globally recognized sports brand, supports grassroot sports through its CSR initiatives by sponsoring quality sports equipment.
The initiative was led and strongly supported by Mr. Sathish Nagappan, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), CAUSE India, and Ms. V. Neeta Maria, Director – Operations, CAUSE India, whose leadership and commitment have played a key role in the successful implementation of the program.
ICWO ensured last-mile distribution, reaffirming its commitment to equal opportunities, dignity, and empowerment through sports.
